HOUSTON, TX — Former president George H.W. Bush was admitted to Harris Methodist Hospital on Sunday after contracting an infection that spread to his blood, per a statement from his office Monday afternoon.

The statement went on to say the 41st president is responding to treatments and he appears to be recovering.

His wife of 73 years, Barbara Pierce Bush, died last Tuesday at her River Oaks home. A service was held for her on Saturday, and she was laid to rest at the Bush Library and Museum in College Station Saturday afternoon.
