Houston Weekend Shootings: 3 More Fatalities | Houston Heights, TX ...

HOUSTON, TX — The Houston Police Department had another busy weekend, and not because the rodeo is in town. Aside from lots of car crashes, there were several reported shootings, three of them fatal. Here’s a wrap of reported shootings in Houston from the time you clocked out on Friday until you clocked back in this morning.

Heights Fatality
A shooting victim and Jason Allen Griffin, a 39-year-old white male, were attending a party at 302 West 23rd Street when the victim put on a bullet proof vest around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. At some point, Griffin shot the man in the chest and then fled the scene. Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Griffin was located at an area hospital where he is being treated for a medical issue. At this time, he is in custody while at the hospital.

Meyerland Fatality
Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a male found at 6425 Bankside Road about 6:50 p.m. on Sunday (March 4). The identity of the victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.Homicide detectives said HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call and found the victim unresponsive in the parking lot with gunshot wounds to the chest and arm. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim dead. There are no known witnesses nor suspects at this time.

Southeast Houston Fatality
Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 4105 Phlox around 1:10 a.m. on Saturday morning. The victim, Rundrick Stephon Dudley, 35, was pronounced dead at the scene. HPD detectives said officers were dispatched to a shooting call at a residence at the above address and observed Mr. Dudley on his front porch. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was deceased at the scene. Witnesses reported seeing an unknown black male running from the location eastbound on Phlox.

South Park Juvenile Shot
A 16-year-old boy was shot at 6002 Wortham Way about 4 p.m. last Friday (March 2). The teenager was taken to an area hospital in stable condition. HPD said the victim was on the driveway of his residence at Wortham Way when he noticed what appeared to be a dark Nissan sedan drive toward him. One or more suspects inside the vehicle then fired shots at the victim and fled the scene. Paramedics arrived and transported the boy to the hospital, where he was treated for wounds to one of his arms and one of his legs.

Braeswood Shooting
Two men ere shot at 9585 Main Street about 3 a.m. on Sunday (March 4). The victims, ages 36 and 23, were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening wounds. HPD said officers were dispatched to a shooting call outside a bar at 9585 Main Street and learned an unknown suspect approached two men in the parking lot and fired shots in their direction. Both victims were struck and transported to the hospital. The suspect fled the scene.

There were several shootings the previous weekend with three more fatalities. In the middle of the week, two children were shot in a drive-by.
